Western doodles

Starting to generate some character ideas for the new project. It's going to be a western, taking place around 1887 or so.

Now What?

Now that the craziness of producing 224 pages of material for the two Rose and Isabel books is over, I can't help but feel a certain kind of creative void, like something is missing. It's best to strike while the iron is hot, so here's a rough sketch of Lilith, a character I've been intrigued about for some time. Right now I'm exploring a story for a color book in which Lilith will have a large role.

From Wikipedia:

Lilith is a female Mesopotamian night demon. In Isaiah 34:14, Lilith (לִּילִית, Standard Hebrew Lilit) is a kind of night-demon or animal, translated as onokentauros; in the Septuagint, as lamia; "witch" by Hieronymus of Cardia; and as screech owl in the King James Version of the Bible. In the Talmud and Midrash, Lilith appears as a night demon. She is often identified as the first wife of Adam, a legend that arose in the Middle Ages.

Happy Birthday R and I

It's been 1 year since the R&I blog began...many thanks to everyone who has dropped by, left comments, sent emails, or put up a link on their site. The community that has formed from artist's blogs is both amazing and inspiring.

R&I Part 2 is done.

Well, almost.

Just tweaking some dialogue and putting the final touches on the cover. It has been a long hard road; the past few months have been especially brutal... 90 - 100 hour weeks, one after the other. I don't think I'll be doing this kind of pace again. The next book will have a much more relaxed schedule and I'm going to put even more time and finesse into the pages.

Thanks everybody for tuning in.

Here's a page that won't spoil anything.
