I shouldn't be doing this, but...
Here is the first rough for the CORA cover. This is right off the top of my head, colors just thrown down to see what it would look like...I shouldn't really be putting half-baked ideas up here, but what the heck. I will try to come up with something more unique in the weeks to come. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Awesome. Yeah, the hat does look like an afro. Cover looks great. I like the washed out colors in the background and how Cora stands out with her bright colors. I'm curious about the giant owl in the background.

I agree with tiki. The first thing that struck me was the red character contrasting the muted Bg and remaining characters. Nice!

I like the color choices and the composition especially the owl; however, the most characters look "worried"/"nervous" rather than "mysterious"/"complex" At the same time, Liz is "smiling". Not sure of your intention.
On the other hand, R & I cover where really spot on.

Thanks guys -- I will continue to work on the cover, keeping in mind the things that you all liked.
cK - thanks for the comment about Liz...I realize now that Liz shouldn't be smiling-- she does seem out of place. I'll continue to refine the expressions on the others, but there will be a bit of worry, especially on Isabel.

Looks GREAT Ted. You're right about the hat, but the rest I really like. The colour tells me exactly where to look.
Leave the 'fro in there. It's about time you added some much needed ethnicity to your predominantly anglo-saxon propaganda.

Is Cora the main character , the one in the center ? for some reason I thought the main character in your next book had long dark hair and was a bit younger...maybe I'm getting em mixed up.
Thanks Sho -- yep, Cora is the blonde in the center. The earlier drawings you mentioned were either of Rose or Liz Caster, who will both have large parts in the story.
