For Auction

This weekend there are not one but TWO benefits to support the humanitarian Organization EMERGENCY - life support for civilian war victims.

Saturday May 19th - it’s the 14th World Wide SketchCrawl which will be a world wide fundraiser.

Sunday May 20th - Maverix Studios and friends will hold a benefit Art Auction in San Francisco.

Here's a digital sketch of my contribution to the auction, which will eventually be an original inked drawing titled "Rose and Lilith" based on characters from historical writings (Lilith) and my comic, Rose and Isabel.

You can get all the info for this weekend's fundraisers at Enrico's Blog
and the Maverix website.

(Here's a color version which may end up as a print or something.)

Very beautiful earth tones. Lillith's gaze is nice and haunting.
Awesome.

hey ted

last night my girlfriend said to me those magic words you almost never hear from a lady - do you want to watch a cartoon ? so i jumped up and got out a ren and stimpy dvd id never screened before and popped it in.

lair of the lummox. oh, what a fantastic cartoon. pure crazyness. such a joy to behold.

im watching the credis now and i see a name come up almost at the very end of the list - production assistant - ted mahlot !

did you work in that capacity at games animation ? do i have the right guy ?

do you remember that cartoon ? was it fun to work in that office with those crazy fellows ? musta been ten years ago, more ... anyway i thought it was funny to picture the fine artist of rose and isabelle whos work i enjoy so. very. much. running around with a clipboard and putting paper in the copy machine.

david - thanks!

dany - heh...Ted Mathot. That's me. I don't remember Lair of the Lummox but I worked on the first season of Games episodes. Learned a lot there.

Long story short, I was hired by Bill Wray to train as a painter; they had a desk and supplies all ready for me. But production wanted a PA and they won the battle.

I eventually got to do some prop design on a show and some inbetweens for "Stimpy's Cartoon Show".
It was a great education. I zeroxed everything I could get my hands on.

moth - thanks man...maybe i'll make a few prints of this and do some new ones...
