New Rose and Isabel stuff

I'm assembling the two R&I books into one for the French compilation and realized parts one and two both ended on an odd page number. Something had to be done to preserve the page spreads in book two, so I came up with the page below for that purpose (and also to soften the transition between the two books). The owl thing is a bit of a hook to Rose's past that will be revealed in Cora.

Below is the rough layout, a work in progress screenshot, the linework with blacks spotted and finally the finished page.

Hi Ted
Feel free to give Stuart Ng a call for Angoulemne tips. He's made the trip 3 times now.
Best,

It's great to see your process of making a page. What size do you use for the R&I pages inside Photoshop? The splinecast was awesome. Thanks for doing it. I can't wait for Cora!

Hey Ted,

Thanks much for posting the work in progress. 99 times out of 100 I prefer to see an artists sketches more than their finished work because I like to see how they think and break things down.
I'm curious...I understand at Pixar the storyboard guys now draw directly onto a Cintiq tablet. I also noted in your "credits/thanks" page for Rose and Isabel you thanked Wacom which leads me to assume you are drawing your comic work with a tablet.
Is is harder/same/different for you shifting gears from being able to draw directly onto a moniter vs a wacom?
Really looking forward to Cora and I love the sepia tones. Really great stuff.

Thanks everybody --

tiki73 - the R&I pages are 7.5" by 8.5" and I think I drew them at 600 dpi. The new cora pages are being roughed at 200 dpi which I'll bump up to 300 when I clean them up.

jett - I didn't have much trouble switching to the Cintiq although now that I'm using a 21" monitor it's nearly impossible to go back to the 15". I still draw on paper, but all the comic work is done digitally.
