A while back on Current Flavor I posted this, prompting myself to get out to the theater more this year. Unfortunately I was only slightly more successful in that task -- viewing 22 films theatrically vs. 15 last year (ouch). But the good news is I saw MORE films than last year, mostly in the area of new releases and notable films (potential award winners).
I dutifully kept a list of films I saw over the course of the year and here's how it broke down (not including repeat viewings):
2007 (new) releases (theatrical): 22
2007 releases (DVD): 6
Previous releases (DVD or projected DVD): 21
A grand total of 49 films watched.

For those interested, here they are:

Excellent list. I wish I'd seen half the movies you have this year. I notice a kind of tonal trend in the movies you've listed. Here are some that are similar that I think you will enjoy, if you haven't seen them already. Please note the year release as some have been remade recently.
Runaway Train 1985
script by kurosawa, voight has a monologue that gives me shivers just thinking about it
12 Angry Men 1957
The Manchurian Candidate 1962
The Proposition 2005
You totally kicked my ass in the movie seeing department. I feel so ashamed. I will see more movies this year!!!!
Hi, Ted !
I have the same (good or strange?) habit to do a list of movies to see (theatrically) each year. Every Dec.31, I find out that much were missed, but I can reach a total of 50 on "good" years.
Have just seen the excellent "Into the Wild", after coming back from Angouleme where we met :o))
Hope you and Bill had a good time !
Jean.
Hey Ted,
I knew about you through the story splinecast, which was great! You have an awesome blog, I really like your posts about composition.
Cool movie list! If I can recommend a film for this year, it is, The Orphanage! Great film!
