Recently I read a post about "Let the Right One In", a Swedish film by Tomas Alfredson. It immediately got my attention because of the reviews saying it's a masterpiece that transcends its genre. I've been very interested in these kinds of films (and books) because they bring a new take to what normally falls into very definable categories.
I was told once at a Comic-Con (re: Rose and Isabel) that this kind of genre transcendence or "genre blending" doesn't work. I disagree 100 percent and I look forward to this film as proof that it can and does, work.
The film is already being re-made for American audiences (sigh) and will be released in 2010, so if it interests you, the original film's US release dates are listed below (yes, I'm believing the hype on this one).
